What is Chia network, Chia coin and XCH?
Chia was incorporated in August of 2017 to develop an improved blockchain and smart transaction platform. Chia Network is built to improve the global financial and payments systems. Chia is the first enterprise-grade digital money. Chia is using the first new Nakamoto consensus algorithm since Bitcoin. Called Proof of Space and Time, it was created by Bram Cohen. Chialisp is Chia’s new smart transaction programming language that is powerful, easy to audit, and secure. Reference smart transactions currently available are: atomic swaps, authorized payees, recoverable wallets, multisig wallets, and rate-limited wallets. Chia coin (XCH) is the native token of Chia Network, the decentralized smart transaction platform founded by BitTorrent’s inventor Bram Cohen.
How does it work?
Plotting takes a relatively long time and require an optimal mix of available CPU Cores, Memory and Disks, lots and lots of disks. Instead of investing in Plotter machines that you may not need once your plotting has been completed, we will do the plotting for you.You can send us your hard drive to fill and return, or we can supply a hard drive of your preferred capacity locally, fill it with your plots and send it to you or you can download online from our Cloud.
Why is Chia better?
Chia has a new innovative Nakamoto consensus algorithm that removes the energy demands of Proof of Work from the system. Compared to other cryptocurrencies, Chia has significantly better security due to its more decentralized blockchain. Chialisp is Chia’s new smart transaction programming language that is powerful, easy to audit, and secure and will unlock the security, transparency, and ease of use that cryptocurrencies promise. Chia is also adopting more modern cryptographic tools to enable richer smart transaction capabilities. Chia is taking a new and superior approach to funding, building, and supporting a blockchain via an eventually public, for-profit, open source development company that holds a pre-farm. Chia will use its pre-farm (Strategic Reserve) to ease the volatility of the coin to mitigate bubbles and crashes and to drive adoption of chia.
How do I get my “Farmer Public Key” and “Pool Public Key”?
Once you have installed Chia successfully, run the command: “chia keys show”, the Farmer public key and Pool public key is shown in bold below (In Windows, MacOS and Linux, you might need to set different path for this chia executable) This 1 mins details show the process…
Showing all private keys: Fingerprint: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Master public key (m): xxxxxxxxxxxx ………….. Don’t send this one. We don’t need it. Master private key (m): xxxxxxxxxxxx …… Keep it for yourself. Farmer public key (m/12381/8444/0/0):: 96 characters ….. This is what you send out: “Farmer Public Key” Pool public key (m/12381/8444/1/0): 96 characters ….. This is what you send out: “Pool Public Key” First wallet key (m/12381/8444/2/0): xxxxxxxxxxx First wallet address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Mnemonic seed (24 secret words): DO NOT send these words to anyone ever
TB vs TiB?
When purchasing disk drives, 1 GB is often defined as 1,000,000,000 bytes. However, when viewed by an operating system, the capacity displayed is often less than this. For example, a new 1 TB hard drive would be reported by the OS as 931 GB (this is 931 GiB). GiB (Gibibytes) is a standard unit used in the field of data processing and transmission and is defined as base 1024 rather than base 1000. To make it easier we will be using the hard drive manufacturers TB designation when specifying capacity and also specify how many plots we can fit into that specific capacity.
What size plots will you make?
We will make K32 plots and K33 plots. K32 Plots will have a size of 101.4 Gib and K33 Plots will have a size of 208.8 Gib
Is there an MOQ?
“We will fill any disks supplied by you, however shipping small capacity disk drives may not be cost-effective. We will supply disk drives ranging from 8TB to 18TB depending on requirements and availability.”
Damage during shipping?
Disk drives will be packed extremely securely, however we cannot take responsibility for damage during shipping. Insurance on shipping is at your discretion.
What is the difference between mining and farming?
Mining requires expensive single use hardware that consumes exorbitant amounts of electricity. It’s a blockchain that uses farming to leverage existing empty hard disk space distributed on nodes around the globe. Farming remains decentralized because anyone that has installed the Chia software and has plots can win the next block. Mining requires expensive custom single use hardware and access to electricity at wholesale or better prices which only purpose built corporations can afford to mine. Farming is more decentralized because it relies on empty hard disk space and anyone with a mobile phone, laptop, or corporate network tends to have extra space not currently being used. Unlike mining, once you’re done farming your storage you can repurpose it to, for example, store your family photos.
Are there minimum requirements for my computer/laptop to farm with internal/external HDD?
“We recommend the following specs: Processor Speed: 2.4ghz (Dual-core or above) RAM Size 8GB or above Operating System: Windows 10, macOS (10.11 above) or Linux ubuntu 18.0 or above distribution. “
When sending a HDD to be filled with plots, can I provide my keys to start plotting for my order to save time?
Yes. You only need to provide the farmer public key and pool public key. We could start right away while your hard drive has been shipping or been purchasing.
